Encryption is done through RC4 protocol and voice encryption is done through AES, which is a standard adapted by US Government. Skype’s coding is available in closed source format with non standardized protocol and some open source programs such as Internet Directory. Some security and networking companies claim to control these protocols for carrier and enterprise applications.
